So this arrived today!
First of all: I fucking love it and I’ll be keeping it.
The fabric is a thick, sturdy yet stretchy bengaline type fabric. The colours are just as vibrant and rich as in the photos. It’s beautifully made. I’m a 38C and wouldn’t normally dream of going without a bra, even in dresses that are meant to offer support (Vivien of Holloway dresses come to mind - the first time I wore my Viv of Holloway out without a bra, THE WEIGHT OF MY MAGNIFICENT BOSOM BENT THE BONING. Which would be fine, except that one of my breasts is noticeably bigger than the other when not supported … and the boning was thus bent unevenly. Bust support FAIL). I DIGRESS. The bust in this dress very much supported my tatas without a bra. I’ll confidently buy one of the PUG vamp tops next time I place an order.
My ONLY concern with the dress is to do with fit (and there’s a review on the site that supports my views - which tragically only seems to have gone up AFTER I purchased the dress). It seems to be designed for much longer waisted individuals than I. No matter where I pull the waist to, it sits strangely and there’s a roll in the zip where it’s bunching up.
Also, the size. I’m a 34 inch waist right now and bought the XL. IT IS SUPER SNUG. Like, unflatteringly so. Yet not actually uncomfortable. There’s plenty of stretch in the fabric so it didn’t feel bad, but looking in the mirror I can see that … it’s just too small for my waist. The hips were actually fine (my waist to hip ratio isn’t that huge), if not quite spacious on me, but … if you’re considering this and you’re on the higher end of the measurements, I’d recommend sizing up.
The length is fine - just below the knees on me, and I know a lot of ladies prefer their dresses just below the knees. I might hem this as I prefer a slightly shorter length, but I’ll see how I go.
As I said above, I fucking love this dress and fully intend to keep it - at least until I’ve lost another inch or two off my waist (which was the plan for summer anyway) and I’ll try it on again to see if the fit is improved at all. Otherwise, it’s ebay for this lovely number.
The green Erin dress is FUCKING AMAZING and you can expect photos (and a proper review) sometime soon!
The yellow/black Evelyn … no. It’s already on ebay. It just didn’t suit my body at all. I stand by PUG clothing - they produce a shit load of amazing dresses that look sensational on all sorts of body types, but I think given this, it’s inevitable that some dresses simply won’t suit ALL body types. I’m totally okay with that, and in the instance of Evelyn and I … we’re just not a match. Apparently I’m more of a Heidi and Netti girl. And that’s the only real nitpick I have with shopping online: sometimes you just don’t know til you try.
I have this in the dark blue/red coming to me. I so hope it fits, I must admit I am a bit worried as I’ve heard it runs a bit small. But I completely know what you mean about the waist bunching - my Dixiefried Tiki Twist does as well, I am just too shortwaisted for it. That said, I don’t give a crap; I can’t see the back bunch, and it looks damn good from the front. Hope this one is the same!
