My new Deadly Dames dress - I so love it! And this was the first time I wore this fascinator (I’ve had it for a while, but no occasion has been quite as appropriate as last night’s burlesque show).  I felt like a UFO had landed on my head. An awesome, awesome UFO. I felt pretty spiffy.

p.s. Don’t mind the Glad Wrap around my leg - it was protecting my new tattoo!

I received this dress, didn’t feel super excited about it and then tried to sell it but no one bought it. So I decided to give it another go and wear it to work the other day. And I love it! Why did I even want to sell it in the first place? So glad no one bought it.

The Jenny skirt in Harlequin print from Pinup Girl Clothing. I freaking love this print, so, so much. It is a great skirt, positively voluminous - I can’t even estimate how much fabric is in this thing. I think I will have to get it - eventually - in other prints.

My Frank-N-Furter necklace is my favourite one from Twisted Mine of Mine - use CHMAY for 10% off. There is a Lily Munster/Bat necklace that I have my eye on next …

Havana Nights dress from Pinup Girl Clothing. I’m not 100% about this one, although it has grown on me since I put it on this morning.

Pros - even though the print is brighter in person than I was expecting, I really like it. The pockets are amazing!! Seriously, all swing dresses should have pockets. The skirt is huge and a perfect length. It is more modest than some other dresses and therefore great for work.

Cons - I’m not sure the neckline really works for me. It’s not horrible, but … I’m not sure. It’s also a bit big on me, even though I am right at the top of the bust measurement and an inch over the waist measurement (size 2X). I find it kind of big all over, but especially in the bust. And it gapes a bit in the back. Also, the seams on either side of the bust are kind of pokey outy and weirdly placed.

I think I will keep it, as I do like it despite the cons, but it’s definitely not one I would buy in multiples like a lot of other PUG dresses.

My new birdcage print Heidi dress from Pinup Girl Clothing (this is my fifth Heidi - I have black cherry, leopard, white with red floral and royal blue). Heidi is one of my favourite dresses - hence the multiples - and this one is my favourite of all. This print is just amazingly cute - so much better in person than it appears in photos.

I wore this dress yesterday to the opening night of Wellington Fashion Week. I was kind of nervous about going because, well, we all know the body ideal upheld by mainstream fashion, and I thought I would feel really out of place. But I had a great time! I got a few derisive looks from fabulously dressed older ladies, but I just ignored them and enjoyed the fashion show (quirky NZ designers WORLD) and the free bubbles. It was fun!

Oh, and if you like the necklace I’m wearing, check out Twisted Mind of Mine and use the code CH31513 for 10% off your order!

Sorry I’ve been incommunicado lovelies! We went away to Auckland for the weekend to attend a friend’s wedding and I was computer-less. I was also useless at taking photos while I was away, so this is the only outfit photo I got, taken before going out with a lovely friend on Friday night, for a yummy dinner and then to the Auckland Easter Show. We were quite possibly a tad overdressed, but whatevs.

I am so freaking excited to finally have this dress - it is a Deadly Dames style from a few years ago, and while it was still available on the Pinup Girl Clothing site I debated about getting it until it was too late - they sold out in my size and then discontinued it. I have regretted it ever since and have been trying to find one. My friend Saffron finally decided to sell hers to me, and I am so freaking grateful - it is as amazing as I imagined it would be! Green leopard print ALL the things, IMHO.

I wore this on Saturday to go for dinner and the opening night of a play with a lovely friend. In fact, the maitre d’ at the restaurant gave us free champagne because he thought we looked glamourous. Here’s to free alcohol for outfit approval!

Oh, visit Twisted Mind of Mine for an awesome necklace like this one, and use the code CH31513 for 10% off.
