Fatshion February Day 28 - the final edition
For the last day of Fatshion February, I decided to wear one of my absolute favourite pieces, my monster skirt. I love this freaking thing - can’t have a bad day while wearing it!
I’m going to miss FF, once again it has been fun. Thanks to everyone else who posted their awesome outfits every day, I’ve loved looking at them! Here’s to FF 2014!

This is one of those days where I just felt blah: about this outfit, about this photo, about everything. Just a great big ‘ol blah. Eh, it happens. I was super comfortable though, which helps things a little. :)

Fatshion February Day 26
This is the dress I had custom made by Pixie Pocket on etsy. I want to only say fantastic things about the experience, because the dress is extremely well made and adorable, but it was a bit of a headache, unfortunately.
I ordered the dress on 15 December. She does state on her page that orders will take 8-10 weeks, so although I didn’t hear from her for a long time after I gave her my measurements, I wasn’t too concerned. However, when I still hadn’t heard from her by the 7 week mark I sent her an email to see how it was going. She promptly replied and said the dress would be with me the following week. Great.
It arrived when she said it would and looked awesome. Can I just stress how well made it is? Because though I am a very amateur sewer, even I can tell just how sturdily put together this dress is. But when I got it home it didn’t fit - too small! I had given her my correct measurements - I even retook them just to be sure - but when I measured the dress it was a couple of inches smaller than the measurements I supplied. Disappointing, to say the least. I contacted her right away and she got back to me promptly saying she would send me a post bag the following day so I could return the dress to her and she would fix it for me. So that was good, I was happy that it could be fixed. But frustrated that it had to be - ‘custom made’ implies that the item should arrive to fit the measurements provided.
Five days go by and the post bag still hadn’t shown up. She is in NZ too, though in a different city, so it should have only taken a day or two to get to me. I contacted her and she said it should be with me soon (she had sent it to the street address of my work, not the PO Box, which always slows things a little). It arrived the next day - a Friday - and … there was no return address, and her address was of course not listed on her etsy store. And I was leaving for a wedding for the weekend, so wouldn’t be able to get it in the post to her until Monday, at the earliest. I was a little fed up, to say the least. I sent her yet another message asking for her address and expressing my discontent; she was extremely apologetic and promised to fix it quickly once she received it. I sent it back to her last Monday and received it for the second time this Monday - with an added matching headband in apology.
As I said, the dress is beautifully made and now fits like a glove. She was very nice to deal with, responding promptly and fixing what had gone wrong. But … it was a bit of a pain in the ass, and a hell of a wait for a dress that isn’t for any particular special occasion (although if it had been for a special occasion and there was a time crunch, this could have been a much worse experience). Though she has many very cute designs, I’m not sure I will order again.
But then again, it is lovely to have something that is so very well made (have I mentioned that yet?? lol) and especially to fit me, so we shall see. I am sure the same thing wouldn’t happen twice …
On a final note, despite the problems with the dress, I must say that it feels good to know that both my dress and petticoat were handmade by small businesswomen here in New Zealand. I like to support the local economy and entrepreneurial ventures when I can.

Fatshion February Day 22
The second of my Day 22 outfits - I wore this to a party, at which I stayed way too late (I got home at 5am) and am paying for it today. Oops. It was a great night though.
It was the first time I’ve worn this belt - the spikes are a bit ouchy so I had to warn people before I hugged them. Although, I was generally told my boobs provided a cushion from the spikes. Wardrobe crisis averted.
top - City Chic, skirt and earrings - Domino Dollhouse, petticoat - Hell Bunny, belt - ASOS Curve, shoes - Overland, necklace - Twisted M.O.M
Fatshion February Day 22
This is the first of my two Day 22 outfits - I wore this one to work.
Cardi and top - Dorothy Perkins, jeans - City Chic, shoes - Banks Shoes, necklace - Twisted M.O.M, earrings (I forgot to put them on for the photo, but I did wear them all day) - Domino Dollhouse
Fatshion February Day 21
What I wore today. It is too freaking hot for petticoats these days, but I just can’t go without them. I have a petticoat problem.
